A message from our Charity & Welfare Officer

Hello, my name is Maddy Dews

University can be a stressful time, which is why welfare is one of our top priorities as a society. We run lots of welfare events every term, such as welcome events for fresher's to help them settle in and ease any anxieties about staying university, drop-in sessions to have a hot drink and talk about anything on your mind, and regular pit-stops during exam season where arts and craft activities are set up for the day, ready for use whenever students want to take a study break. And even if it isn't a designated welfare event, welfare is still factored in, and there will always be a member of exec that you can talk to about anything you need.

Charity is also a big part of the society, and we run lots of charity events throughout the year as part of Movember and to support LGBTQ+ charities and other charities. Across the year we run charity challenges, bar crawls, circles and many other events to raise money. There will be a mix of sober and drinking charity events so there's something for everyone!
