We are electing for a new exec committee!

Below are the roles available for election and descriptions of each role. 

To nominate yourself please email hannah.warren@warwick.ac.uk with your name, Uni ID number, and the role(s) you're nominating yourself for (you can apply for up to 2!). 

Those running for senior exec positions need to present for 5 minutes per position, if you are running for any other role you need to present for 3 minutes!

Nominations are now open and will close at 5pm on the 24th February. 

You need a membership to nominate yourself (or to vote!), please buy this before the 11th February at 5pm!

VP of Academics

Job Description:

  • Overseeing the direction of academic projects

  • Liaising with SLS and other external personnel

  • Working with the President and Secretary to plan academic events

President

Job Description:

  • Communicating with BioSoc members, the SU, and the University

  • Preparing agendas for meetings and to chair regular society meetings

  • Making sure that all events are well organised

  • Hold responsibility for the decision making for BioSoc

  • Managing finances and signing off any spending

VP of Socials

Job Description:

  • Organising sober and non-sober socials

  • Working with social secretaries to run circles

  • Helping to organise BioBall and Biotour

  • Helping to organise freshers week, and running of sports teams

Senior Exec

Secretary

Job Description:

  • Acting as a communicator between all members and the committee

  • Attending to all correspondence for and on behalf of your society.

  • Monitoring your social Media, and sending newsletters on a weekly basis and respond to emails

  • Helping to prepare the agenda for club/society meetings.

  • Taking minutes of meetings and writing up all minutes correctly and in good time.

  • Working with the publicity officers to manage the social media accounts

  • Updating the society website

Treasurer

Job Description:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and prepare a budget at the beginning of the year

  • Authorising and accounting all transactions from the society funds

  • Preparing grant applications and keep track of any spend

Mentor Coordinator

  • Overseeing the running of BioCafe’s with the BioCafe coordinator

  • Organising and managing our BioMentor programme

  • You are the first point of contact for all the BioMentors

Academic Talks Officer

  • Organise external and internal speaker talks within the University

  • Liaise with the SU regarding talk organisation

Academics

Outreach Officers (x2)

  • Organising and managing volunteering activities, school visits, outreach events by SLS

  • Organising and planning our annual ‘Bioscience Day’

  • Organising trainings for BioSoc volunteers

Freshers Officers (x2)

  • Organise welcome events for freshers week and other fresher-related events

  • Head the BioFamily scheme, organising applications and assignment of groups

  • Create the BioSoc freshers guide

social Secretary (x2)

  • Effectively running, organisation and communicating regular social activities, both sober and non sober

  • Taking care of safety of members in social activities until the official end of the social.

  • Helping with Tour and Ball planning

Socials

Sports Officer

  • Gauge interest for sports teams for the year.

  • Organise sports teams for the society including Saturday League

  • Update and manage the sports instagram account.

Tour Organiser

  • Organising a society tour

  • Filling out any relevant documents and event planning forms, and liaising with the SU

  • Making an itinerary for the tour

Ball Organiser

  • Organising the annual BioSoc ball

  • Filling out any relevant documents and event planning forms, and liaising with the SU

  • Making relevant bookings for the ball

Publicity Officers (x2)

  • Handling the society’s social media handles

  • Making posts for social media based on requests from exec for relevant events

  • Regularly checking the social media calendar

Other

Charities and Welfare Officer

  • Acting as a support for anyone in the society with a concern or issue, managing issues with confidentiality.

  • Organising Movember and other fundraising socials
